The election season is starting to take shape as more candidates are putting their name in contention. Cut through all the empty talk and posturing and what will our choices really be. The front runners of both parties are fairly well known, as well as the second tier candidates and their views. What about a third party candidate, Libertarian, Green, Reform, or even an Independent?
The real deciding factor should not be party, but rather their beliefs and stances on the issues that really matter. Who is going to be honest and at least try to keep their campaign promises? What issues? How about national security; controlling and patrolling and enforcing our borders. A strong national defense, supporting and funding our military so they can finish the missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Tax reform, pushing for passage of H.R. 25, allowing our economy to perform as it should. Social Security reform, who will have the guts to run on and really try to push needed reforms and privatization through.
These are the most important issues in the upcoming election, who will have the honesty to say what they really believe and then follow through.
The other problem of course is the voter. How many are going to vote for whomever promises them the most handouts.
Is a candidate who runs on these issues electable? I do not know although I would hope so. The people will decide Americas path, a scary thought when you look at some of the people who are allowed to vote.
